Hello, I am Shawn, a 21 year old Developer & Designer for both Software & Web Systems. I recently completed my Bachelors degree in Computer Science at Northern Caribbean University. I am now seeking a challenging programming based job in fields such as graphics, artificial intelligence or devices. I am always learning new skills in my free time, particularly in areas such as graphics programming, mobile app development and programming language theory.
My style of designing and development is using a simplistic approach, as can be seen in the minimalistic design of this website. My interface and code are always clean and readable.
You can view my resume here.
Warning! This may get alittle technical.
The first thing you may notice about me through my website is that I'm more of a Developer than a Designer. I've been writing small programs since the age of 10, when I got my first computer loaded with windows 98. Believe it or not, I started out writing C programs with the goal of becomming a cracker/hacker with alittle bit of games programming. I completely dropped the hacker dream at age 14 after realising I enjoy maths and solving logic problems, so doing my research in the field of game development, I became interested in artificial intelligence and graphics progamming.
I choose to do graphics programming first, and after becomming overwelmed with existing APIs for C/C++, such as OpenGL and DirectX, I made the biggest mistake of my life and moved to Visual Basic on the .net framework for game development. I also started playing around with html and php at this age by writing simple calculators and using free hosting services. At around age 16, I began using a mixture of OpenGL and SDL using C++ to write simple games and graphics applications.
After enrolling in university, I picked up languages such as C# and java, C# being the most prominent. After entering competitions such as World Skills and the Microsoft Imagine Cup, I became competent in creating web systems and software using technologies such as PHP, ASP.NET, WPF, etc.
Now I spend all my spare time working on Xormis.
